GLOBALSTAGE RELEASES THE THREE MUSKETEERS BASED ON ALEXANDRE DUMAS' ROMANTIC ADVENTURE

Globalstage Productions announces the release of its most recent video of live theatre for families: The Three Musketeers. Adapted from the French classic by Alexandre Dumas, the production is performed by the acclaimed The Northwest Children's Theatre (NWCT) in Portland, Oregon. The video also includes pre and post curtain discussions between renowned professor Elizabeth McNamer and 13 year old Preston Blakeley of San Francisco and a booklet of related ideas and things to do.

Filmed on location in Portland, Oregon, this seventh video in the award winning series of Globalstage Theatre Adventures is set in seventeenth century France. It follows the adventures of young d'Artagnan who makes his way to Paris in order to join the famed king's guards, the Musketeers. Upon his arrival in the city, the fearless youth teams up with Porthos, Athos, and Aramis, three of the most famous Musketeers. The four soon find that they are embroiled in a sinister plot by Cardinal Richelieu to disgrace the Queen of France. Twenty-three actors bring the exciting story to life with lush costuming and precisely choreographed stage fighting.

The mission of Globalstage is to provide challenging, fun, quality entertainment for families. Lizbeth Pratt, President and CEO of Globalstage, is a theatre lover, and founded the company because of the dearth of quality videos appropriate for her to watch with her then twelve year old son. To select plays for the series, she scours the globe looking for the best live theatre currently in production. The Three Musketeers captured her interest because of how it accurately reflects seventeenth century France, and because of the exciting pace of the action.

Globalstage is known for its innovative camerawork and editing, for recreating the theatre on video. The family theatre series, which also includes Island of Dr. Moreau, Playing from the Heart, Cyrano, Far from the Madding Crowd, Pinocchio, and Frankenstein, has won numerous awards. Recently, Playing from the Heart was named one of the best videos of 1999 by American Library Association's Booklist.

To order, call Globalstage at 1 888 324 5623, or go to the web site www.globalstage.net. Videos are $27 each, plus shipping, or $22.50 each if you purchase six.
