Stage One's 'Pinocchio' video out soon

By Judith Egerton

If you enjoyed Stage One's "Pinocchio," you'll be glad to know that you can soon watch it over and over on video, thanks to Globalstage Productions of San Francisco.

A BBC crew taped the stage production last year in Louisville for Globalstage, which will release the video Tuesday.

"Pinocchio" was written and directed by Stage One producing director Moses Goldberg and features original music by Scott Kasbaum, colorful costumes and enchanting sets.

Besides its entertainment value, the "Pinocchio" video serves as an education resource. It offers viewers a tour of downtown Louisville and includes commentary on the historical and cultural significance of the "Pinocchio" story. Backstage interviews with Goldberg and Kasbaum are included.

Previously, Globalstage produced and released a video of Stage One's "Frankenstein." Both videos are part of an ongoing series of videos of stage productions for children. Upcoming videos include "Cyrano" and "Macbeth," produced at theaters in other countries.

The full series of six videos per year costs $135. The tapes can be bought separately, at $27 per video, plus shipping costs. Beginning in May, the videos also will be sold through children's catalog of the Book of the Month Club.

To order, call Globalstage at 888-324-5623 or visit its Web site at www.globalstage.net.
