GLOBALSTAGE BEGINS VIDEO PRODUCTION OF WORLD PREMIERE PLAY BASED ON THE LIFE OF SOLO PERCUSSIONIST, EVELYN GLENNIE

October 16, 1998 -Wimbledon, England - Globalstage Productions is in Wimbledon, England beginning work on their new production Playing from the Heart, a play based on the childhood of Evelyn Glennie, the world-renowned solo-percussionist. Performed by Wimbledon's Polka Theatre for Children, this is a world premiere play.

"Doing this world-premiere production is different for us at Globalstage," said Lizbeth Pratt, President and CEO. "Until now, all of our video productions have been based on classics - Frankenstein, Cyrano, Far From the Madding Crowd - but Playing from the Heart is a beautifully written play and a wonderful story. We couldn't resist doing it."

Evelyn Glennie is recognized as the world's first full-time, solo percussionist. Playing from the Heart recounts Glennie's struggle to fulfill her dream of becoming a world-class musician. The play opens with Glennie as a precocious young girl of 8 who is learning to cope with increasing deafness and ends with her triumphant acceptance to the Royal Academy of Music.

Playing from the Heart will be closed captioned and is due for release in December. It will be the 5th production in Globalstage's inaugural series of family theatre videos. Other Globalstage titles which are currently available include Frankenstein, Pinocchio, Cyrano, and Far From the Madding Crowd. Globalstage videos can be purchased as a subscription of 6 videos for $135 or individually for $27 and can be ordered by calling toll-free 888.32.GLOBE (or 888.324.5623) or by visiting the secure website www.globalstage.net.
